Press ReleasesCOUNTY CANDIDATES ENDORSED2008 Democratic Freeholder candidates A very familiar face will be joined by two new ones on the Middlesex County ticket this fall. Freeholder Director David B. Crabiel, Carteret Councilman Ron Rios and Piscataway Councilwoman Millie Scott were unanimously endorsed by the county Democratic convention at the Pines Manor. Crabiel has been a County Freeholder for 27 years and is in his 13th year as Director. He said that during the next three years, he hopes to see the development of the 427-acre National Lead site in Sayreville move forward, continued open space acquisition and property tax reduction. Rios remarked that the Freeholder Board is "second to none" and was honored that the Democratic committee has "placed your faith in me." "I accept this nomination with an obligation I take seriously," he said. Scott said that as councilwoman, she has worked agressively with Mayor Brian Wahler and her council colleagues to improve the township's quality of life. She pledged to campaign and work as Freeholder just as hard. "I will make you proud," she said. Scott will run for a full, three-year term, seeking to fill Freeholder Camille Fernicola's seat. Fernicola announced that she will be retiring from the board at the end of the year. Rios will assume his Freeholder position this evening, filling the vacant seat of Freeholder John Pulomena. Along with the county candidates, U. S. Senator Frank Lautenberg, Congressmen Frank Pallone, Rush Holt and Albio Sires and Congressional candidate Linda Stender were emphatically endorsed by county committee members. |
